1. Kilkenny Tourism
The organisation needed to promote the hotels and attractions in Kilkenny as a destination to visit throughout the year. A radio campaign was run on RTE Radio , supported by various Dublin based radio stations, with the aim of informing listeners about the various hotels and attractions available throughout Kilkenny and in particular mentioning the Kilkenny Tourism website.
2. Samaritans
Samaritans run a confidential 24hour telephone support listening service for callers who want to talk to somebody anonymously about their various problems, and seek emotional support.
It was decided to run a radio campaign aimed at callers from a rural background in the first instance, followed by a television campaign which addressed a wider audience. The commercial needed to be suitably vague and non-recognisable from a geographical aspect, so that callers would not feel that their own location was featured in the commercial and that they could be identified in some way.
The Sunday Times picked out the commercial Cohesion produced for Samaritans as a good example of how to get a point across without making a fuss.
‘Perfectly pitched between hopefulness and the grind of everyday life, the ad does not aim to win awards. That is the point, neither do Samaritans’
The commercial (creative by The Element) is still running on several tv stations to this day.
3. Siemens
The launch of a new model for a mobile phone is always an interesting time for a manufacturer. When Siemens were launching the ‘SL5 Active’ phone Cohesion made an action packed radio commercial which demonstrated the rugged features of the phone, which was its USP at the time. The commercial included a person skydiving, rockclimbers and a cyclist on a mountain bike as some examples of the times that a solid ‘SL5 Active’ phone could come in handy. The campaign was deemed a great success by Siemens.
4. The National Reading Initiative
The Government through the Department of Education decided to run a TV and Radio campaign with the aim of encouraging young people, (or anybody with literacy problems) to learn to read.
It was decided that one of the most effective ways to get the ‘read more’ message across would be to employ well known personalities from various spheres of life to endorse the initiative by the Government.
Cohesion produced several tv commercials featuring personalities including amongst others Brian Kerr (then Manager national soccer team for Ireland) Maeve Binchy, (writer) Sinead (pop groupBewitched) and Joe Duffy.
The campaign was run over a two month period and schools and libraries reported a considerable favourable response to the commercials.
5. The Institute of Public Administration
The IPA produce a wide range of influential educational publications for reference and use by the Public Sector. They also run various adult educational courses throughout the year which require advertising through national, regional and local press, radio and online.
Cohesion plan buy and manage the media for the IPA across all the consumer advertising vehicles involved in the various advertising campaigns initiated.
6. Advanced Cosmetic Treatments
Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Group is Ireland’s longest established cosmetic surgery provider. Cosmetic ‘Treatments’ are now a major part of the company’s business and it was decided to separate the advertising to reflect this major aspect of the company’s operations.
The challenge was to create a series of press advertisements for Advance Cosmetic Treatments which would stand out somewhat from the many campaigns running offering similar products. This was achieved by creating strong text based ad copy with clever headlines which identified each treatment clearly. Magazines aimed at women and National Press with Lifestyle magazines were selected as the suitable media platform.
